End of life. Is it light or darkness?
Terry Pratchett was a brilliant author and a courageous man who fought bravely against Alzheimer’s disease. He was himself an atheist. On his death his daughter Rhianna wrote,
“Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night. The End”
“Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night. The End”
The view of the Bible could hardly be more different. Jesus said,
“I am the light of the world” (John 8 verse 12).
If you know Jesus as our Saviour we go to be with Him at the point of death. As Paul said,
“To be with Christ which is far better” (Philippians 1 verse 23)
Eternal darkness is NOT the end for the Christian but rather eternal light and eternal life with the one and only Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ. Death is NOT the end but rather the beginning of a new and abundant life with Jesus. It was Jesus who died on a cross for the whole world and took its’ punishment so that we could all spend eternity in heaven, a place of glorious light and wonderful life.
