Poems by Joan Shaw
I live alone
I live alone, but not alone
For in my house I find
Many, many, treasures others have left behind
My mother's old Bible on the table in the hall
Uncle Charlie's picture hanging on the wall
I live alone, but not alone
For in my house I find
Many, many, treasures of the keeping kind
From family and friends who love me and care
I know I am not alone, for they are there
I live alone, but not alone
For I have a friend who listens to all my problems
Who will be with me to the end
When my time is come he will hold my hand
Take me to another place,
to another land
Then I will see,
all who have loved me.
For in my house I find
Many, many, treasures others have left behind
My mother's old Bible on the table in the hall
Uncle Charlie's picture hanging on the wall
I live alone, but not alone
For in my house I find
Many, many, treasures of the keeping kind
From family and friends who love me and care
I know I am not alone, for they are there
I live alone, but not alone
For I have a friend who listens to all my problems
Who will be with me to the end
When my time is come he will hold my hand
Take me to another place,
to another land
Then I will see,
all who have loved me.
The rainbow
The wind blows, the door rattles
The rain comes tumbling down
The sky is dark and grey
Has God forgotten us today?
No, in the sky is a rainbow bright
The sun comes out
it's day not night
The rainbow is a sign from God
Who's there for us, whatever men may say
To brighten up the darkest path
and help us on our way
Sunday
It's time to get up, its Sunday
The sun is shining, the birds are singing
The dog is barking
and the bells are ringing
It's time for church, its time to pray
That God will give us strength today
To live as He would want us to
today and every day
all our lives through
