Babies, little children and God
The question is frequently asked 'what happens to babies and little children when they die?'
The death of any baby is an awful tragedy for everyone, especially for the parents and immediate family. The loss of a baby. The loss of a baby is not confined to the experience of a certain class of people but is experienced by all social classess, including royalty. King David is perhaps is perhaps the most famous king in Jewish history and is a direct ancestor of Christ. It is often forgotten that David suffered the loss of a baby boy. We read about this in 2 Samuel 12 verses 16 - 23. Although he was a king he was not too proud to cry, to pray to God and to fast. David did this for six days. On the seventh day the child died. The words that David said to his servants on hearing about the child's death, tell us much about the character of God: ''I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me'. (2 Samuel 12 v 23. God is both loving and just. It is clear from these words that the baby was with God in heaven and that David would see him again one day in heaven. THIS IS TRUE OF ALL BABIES. They go straight to God in heaven where they will enjoy God's presence forever..
In the New Testament Christ makes it crystal clear that little children have a SPECIAL PLACE IN THE HEART OF GOD:
Little children are both innocent and vulnerable. When the disciples tried to stop the little children coming to Christ He scolded them and said:
"Suffer the little schoolchildren to come unto me and forbid them not for of such are the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 19 v 14).

Christ stated also that it would be better for someone to be thrown into the sea rather than upset a little child (Matthew 18 v 6). He said also that everybody should have the attitude as a little child if they wish to get to heaven (Matthew 18 v 3). Everybody needs a SIMPLE TRUST IN CHRIST as seen in little children. In the words of the apostle Paul,
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved" (Acts 16 v 31).
